Community Engagement Project

I had the pleasure of visiting a garden in my community called Garden Unidos. This is a place that acknowledges indigenous practices on Payomkawichum Territory. It is located in my home town Oceanside, CA. I had the opportunity to plant some tomato plants and lettuce seeds. At the garden, they believe that "every human being, animal, plant, and spirit deserves the right to access sustenance, shelter, and safety." I resonated with this and walked away with more knowledge about environmentally friendly ways to grow clean food while respecting indigenous practices and prayers. They are open to the public and have donated care baskets to the homeless. This has inspired me to donate food and care packages to people in my community.
